President, R.F.D. 1, Schoolhouse Rd. Old Saybrook, Conn. 06475
The Alumni Club of Southeastern Connecticut has completed another fine two years under the able leadership of Craig Haines '58.
At our annual meeting, the following were elected club officers: Al Winkler '44; president; Doug McKay '46, vice president; Jose "Pete" Asenzio '61, secretary; George Dreher '41, treasurer. Dan Fuller '46 is district enrollment director, a position he has handled most capably for several years.
Our dinner meetings, to which wives and children are invited, have been highly successful. The speakers from Hanover have provoked many lively discussions. To date, we have had two consecutive winter outings in New Haven, at the Dartmouth-Yale hockey games. Unfortunately, our presence did not inspire the teams to win either time. In May of 1972 and 1973, Jane andBill Daniells '34 were hosts to the group of students who made the annual canoe trip from Hanover to Old Saybrook, Conn. This is a 200-mile trip, taking about 4½ days, and the group arrives sunburned, windburned, hot, cold, wet, tired, and happy. The Club injoys meeting and greeting these hardy souls, and hopefully this event will be continued by other undergraduates at the College. All who made the trip this past spring were seniors. For the past three years the trip has been on a coed basis, and the gals seem to have just as good a time as the fellows. Sleeping in the Holyoke, Mass., jail is apparently a highlight of the trip.
Our geographical borders extend from Clinton, Conn., just west of the Connecticut River, to the Rhode Island state line. Any of our club members would be most happy to take a little time off and reminisce with any of you who may be in the area.
