Alice, replacing the Snow Queen at Carival '73, reigned over a Winter Wonderland blessed at the last minute by a light snowfall which frosted over the icy remnants of January's multiple thaws.
A grinning Cheshire Cat, green teeth slowing eerily in the dark, crouched menacingly in the center of the Green. Fraternity and dormitory snow sculptures, pronounced "the best in years" by old Hanover hands, made full use of the invitation to whimsy inherent in Lewis Carroll's works. The Jabberwock graced the winning Carnival poster, and the campus abounded in fantastic characters drawn from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
