An all-male faculty ceased to exist in Dartmouth's College of Arts and Sciences some 20 years ago, but women on the faculty in any significant number are a very recent development. For the current academic year, of course, women constitute a larger percentage of the faculty than ever before, and their number will grow. Today's corps of 40 women teachers in the undergraduate college consists of 26 full-time and 14 part-time.

The representative group pictured here are the full-time faculty members holding the rank of assistant professor or higher. On leave, and not shown, are Marysa Navarro, Associate Professor of History, and Sara Klaren, Assistant Professor of Romance Languages and Literature.
