Up to 300 special students will be admitted into the undergraduate courses of the summer term at Dartmouth, it has been disclosed by Dean Donald L. Kreider. The admission of such students was proposed by the Committee on Year Round Operation and was approved by the faculty when the CYRO report was adopted.
A Special Student Desk has been established and Elizabeth Carr of the Financial Aid Office has been named Acting Admissions Officer. It is possible that the Special Student Desk will become a year round d operation, with a small number of special students admitted to each of the other three terms when space allows.
For the coming summer term, special students will be permitted to take one, two, or three courses, at 40%, 70% or 100% of the term tuition ($l090 for 1973) limited amount of financial aid will be given on the basis of need and academic accomplishment.
Dean Kreider pointed out that if 300 special students taking two courses do at- tend this summer, their tuition will provide significant budget relief for the College Also, their presence will ensure that the 130 courses being offered in the 1973 summer term have sufficient enrollment to operate as regular courses and not as tutorials.
