With the arrival of June, in years past, everyone at the College felt he was on the homestretch of another academic year. But year-round operation has changed all that. Between Commencement on Sunday, June 10, and the start of summer-term classes on Monday, June 24, a scant two weeks will elapse. And one week of that recess will see the dorms filled with hundreds of alumni families in town for class reunions.
An expected enrollment of 900 will be the largest since the summer term was instituted in 1963. Among the summer students on campus will be 540 Dartmouth undergraduates, many more than in previous years and a number destined to grow as year-round operation takes hold and students fulfill the Dartmouth Plan requirement that they attend one summer term. This year's session running through August 27 will for the first time be a full-parity term.
