After a prolonged cat-and-mouse game, the Federal Communications Commission has finally granted WDCR, the student-managed, student-operated radio station the FM transmission license originally applied for in April 1972.

WDCR's application, submitted in the name of the Trustees of the College, was first accepted in September of last year, then approval was rescinded in December, on the grounds that another application had been filed the day before the college station was given the go-ahead. WDCR's bid remained in limbo, on "pending status," until August, when the competing application was withdrawn.

WDCR-FM will be, like the established AM student-run station, commercial, self-sufficient, and non-profit, but the two will be almost entirely separate operations. Scheduled tentatively to go on the air in early 1976 with a program of stereo music, news, and public affairs, WDCR-FM will operate from studios in Robinson Hall. A tower and transmitter are to be built on Craft's Hill in Lebanon.

King Vidor, the legendary film directorwhose Hollywood career started in 1915,received the royal treatment during twoweeks' residence last month. He appearedto introduce two classics from among his50-plus films at a special "celebration."
