We shan't impinge on your alloted Christmas reading time by listing the 115 names of '26 men, wives, and guests who enjoyed good fellowship and beautiful weather in Hanover at the Princeton and Harvard games, but they are readily available to all classmates who read Smoke Signals in which Hub Harwood prints all the news that is fit to print - not necessarily dwelling on football scores. Needless to say, Johnny Manser did his usual superb job making arrangements for both weekends which was greatly appreciated by all attendees.
"Dear Jack" notes have poured in with an- nual dues to treasurer Jack Roberts at Southbury, Conn., and are now following him and Dot to fiscal southern quarters at Ft. Myers, Fla. To mention a few: Russ and Marion Williams in Charlotte, Vt. were glad to greet Bud and Marion Banfield when they dropped in on them on their way to New Hampshire: Morry and Gretchen Storer have acquired a second home in the mountains of northern Georgia which brings them a step closer than their Florida home to attend the 50th; Al andSadie Morris are patiently awaiting completion of their new condominium in Aiken, S.C., and meantime are staying with son George '54 and family.
Of coarse a host of our Floridian classmates welcomed the return of our financial officer to the sunshine state: Bob and Clyth Patten reported a hot (?) summer in Port Richey as well as a winter visit by Paul and Betsy Dillingham:John and Marion Aronovskf said all was well in Boca Raton; Ed and Evelyn Hanlon, now settled in their new condo at 1552 Stafford Lane, Sarasota, are ready to resume R&D work for the 1926 media, having survived their first year of retirement; Don and Gladys Church are back on location at Belleview Biltmore Hotel, Clearwater; Dick and Edna Burlingame reported a hot (?) summer also in Clearwater and a week's respite at Pinehurst, N.C.; Holt and Lil McAloney are back in Sarasota after four wonderfully cool months in the mountains of North Carolina. The numerous "Dear Jack" notes are a great tribute to our class treasurer for his dedicated work and provide much news of classmates in the '26 media.
A good Setter from Ed and Nancy Rosie tells of their move from Cambridge, Mass., to Middletown, Conn., to be near their daughter me. Ed has recovered from two operations, is now retired, and taking things easy.
Jim Tratjuair's letter of some time back when he turned 69 tells of a visit by Worthy and Stubby' Walters at his and Retta's home in Cincinnati. Jim and Worthy were roommates in our senior year.
In response to a question, our youthful cLassmate, Dick Lattimore, Rosemont, Pa., has explained at this late date how he managed to enter Dartmouth at age 16. Answer: by skipping school entirely except for the last two years of high schòl. dick and Alice were in Los Angeles last winter while Dick had an interim teaching assignment at UCLA, sharing a university office with his son Steve '60 who teaches classics and archeology there. After his retirement from Rsso Research, Tony Gleason keeps busy with Red Cross work (the same is true also of Bob cort, he says) and Civil Defense as well as duplicate bridge. A recent hernia operation and after-effects of a shingles attack have somewhat hampered his activities, but in 1973 Janet and he had a delightful trip to Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia. Janet, who retired as music supervisor of Westfield, N.J., schools, served for the past two years as president of the very active Westfield Music Club.
Ed and Jean Poole are thoroughly enjoying retirement in Leisure Village East, Lakewood, N.J. Ed was 42 years with Western Electric Co. in Chicago, Kearney, N.J., New York City, and Winston Salem, N.C. Ed says on his 70th birthday that he hopes to make it to his 90th - so we can count on his presence at our 50th and perhaps elect him as reunion chairman thereafter.
George Douglas celebrated his 70th in Montpelier, Vt., in March unfortunately in the company of the "sneakiest and most perisistent flu bug in his time. In spite of this and no skiing for the first time in many years, he and Almeda are thankful for their blessings of friends and quite good health.
In the "man bites dog" department, EdHanlon last August sent your scribe a birthday card on his 70th! How did you know, Ed, and thanks. Just previously he and Evelyn had attended a party given by Ed and MargaretDooley at their home in Katonah, N.Y. where among those present in this order were Courtneyand Marge Brown, Governor of New York Malcolm Wilson, Hamilton Fish Sr., and Hamilton Fish Jr., former and present New York Congressmen.
On the date of this writing in Waban, Mass., on Halloween plus one, a light breeze is bringing down oak leaves like mad, but the temperature reads an Indian Summer 72. However, if you have read thus far in December, Don and LibbyNorstrand wish all 1926 a very merry Christmas and a truly happy new year.
