Many '05 people are members of the AARP which held its annual meeting May 1 in San Diego, Calif. The new president is Douglas O. Woodruff of Salt Lake City, Utah. We now have over 6,000,000 members, which makes us a national voting power to be reckoned with. I carry AARP insurance and recommend it highly.
Ann Reid spent some time this winter in Florida at the resort she has been going to for years. Some of her old friends are there, but she did not see any Dartmouth folks. Elsie Grover and John Tuck used to be her neighbors.
We talked with Mary Wilkins, our oldest living widow, and learned that she had a comfortable winter. She and her daughter have a summer home in Dublin, N.H., and will be going up for weekends as soon as the weather gets warm.
Ida Parkinson is one of our first widows to send her check for the Fund. She has eye problems but is able to read and continue to lead an active life.
The latest list of 25 oldest living graduates shows 1905 with seven men listed: English, Lill, Falconer, Balph, Brown, Hodgman, and Hills. The Classes of 1902 and 1903 have five each.
Ed Tuck '50, son of our John, sent his $25 check to the Fund, split five ways so that we get credit for five participating points. This is a big help, as we win only on these points to make the Green Derby.
Herford Elliott doubled his gift this year, so '05 will get the benefit of the matching fund. Herford, like all of us, is slowing down. He is very fortunate to have a younger and active wife.
Birthdays coming up: Balph, born June 15, 1882; Lill, July 24, 1880 (our oldest); Knight, July 25, 1883; and White, September 1, 1883. Maude Harding reports a comfortable winter, but the aches and pains of old age are crippling all of us.
Barbara Nichols, daughter of our ElsieGrover, says her mother Marion has had a good winter. She would love to receive a note from any of the '05 folk. (Royal Magansett Home, North Falmouth, Mass. 02556).
C.C. Hills doubled his contribution so th will get the extra from the special matchine fund.
Fred Chase had a successful flight home and is now busy writing about his Hanover memories. He doubts if he will make it to-Hanover this year but hopes to be with us next year for our 70th Reunion.
We of 1905 are hopeful that you will be able, before our 70th Reunion next year to join the group enrolled in our special memorial found. The minimum contribution is $100.
