Relayed by Lou Young: "Since Joe never seems to send his news, I'll add a note for him. He is just finishing a year as Chief of Staff at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth, and is pres.-elect of the regional chapter of the American College of Surgeons; also on the building committee for the new $5 million Duluth Clinic. He is also an asst. prof, at the new medical school at Univ. of Minn-Duluth. His specialty is thoracic & general surgery.
"Our oldest son, Nathan, Dartmouth '67, is now a professional actor, currently appearing with Vera Miles in "Finishing Touches" at the Drury Lane Theater, Chicago. He was in the company at the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival last summer. Son George and his wife live in St. Paul.
"Jim is in his second year of graduate school at the Univ. of Pa., working for two masters degrees, in architecture & landscape architecture. Jane is a junior pre-med student at Carleton College. Susan is a soph at Bates College; and Patricia is our 11-year-old, the only one left at home. We love Duluth and en joy sailing on Lake Superior. All the family, except me, are skiers, so we keep a condo at Vail and often see Dartmouth acquaintances there Best from Pearl, for Joe and Pearl Fuller."
We had fun, as we have a number of times since their marriage, being with Bill and Caryl Clark. We were having a nightcap at the Inn not long ago when they dropped in, full of life and laughter after a show at Hopkins Center. Caryl grew up mostly in cities (her father is Ort Hicks '2l who later returned to become an officer of the College) but is now a farm lady, as Bill has long operated a large farm in Orford, north of Hanover. The perennial golf champion. Bill remains lean and tanned, and looks ready to whack one over the ski jump.
Also from Lou: "Many thanks for your letter ... I wanted to write a long letter in turn - don't know where the time goes - I keep allowing myself to get overwhelmed with more work than I can handle. Am off on a business trip to Iran and Egypt . . . once I return have promised to try to catch up with some of the personal things. Best regards. Bob Lawrence."

Charley Kazaross writes: "Nothing new or spectacular in R.I. Can '41 come up with something better than the 'Rare Book assessment?" Bob Feller in turn writes from Pittsburgh asking for "a report on the Memorial Books program. Who selects them? (the library-ed); how many have, been given: what titles (they include a number of books on art-ed); does any other class do this? (yes, numbers of classes, as a means of helping the library-ed). Sounds like a fine idea, but I've forgotten the details. Best regards, Bob."
(I made a book report a couple of years ago in this space - do not know the number which have been given but it is sizable and I will run an update. The books are paid for out of regular class dues - no special assessment. Dues also cover the Alumni Magazine subscriptions, and other class projects as the '41 careers' counseling program. Annual financial report will he issued and printed herein (in the fall.)
