There are times, believe it or not, when being a class secretary is somewhat less than glamorous. In fact, it can be downright frustrating. Th.e job, however, has its moments as the following letter will illustrate:

"Dear John, Please excuse the familiarity, but I am just a little nostalgic. Also, I see by your class column that your mail hasn't been too heavy.

"When glancing thru the February 1975 issue of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, I would not ordinarily pay much attention to news of the newer classes, but your address hit me right in the eye. I don't think that I ever saw Ridgemont Street in print before except on my birth certificate.

"I was born at 37 Ridgemont St. on January 25, 1903 in a blizzard and Dr. McKeen came on foot from his home at the corner of Cambridge Street and Allston Heights.

"Not long after, we moved from there to 15 Allston Heights \yhich I believe is just behind where you live. Then when I was in the Washington-Allston school, we moved to 25 Quint Ave. next door to the parsonage of the Allston Congregational Church. The house is no longer there.

"For 15 years I worked for the Boston Cadillac-Olds at 808 Commonwealth Ave. as Olds service manager and then 5 years with Chrysler Corp. and 3 years with Lincoln-Mercury as N.E. service manager.

"In 1954 I decided to leave the automobile business and my wife and I moved to Florida. My only regret is that we didn't come 20 years before. You can have your snow and ice and cold weather, but give me the nice weather we have here.

"Please excuse these ramblings, but I just couldn't help dropping you a line on this bright, sunny Sunday afternoon.

"With my best wishes for your future I remain, Warren. T. Hollis Jr. '24"

Letters like that make it all worthwhile and it, along with the 4-leaf clovers enclosed, made my afternoon as sunny and bright as. any in Florida. As I have alluded to before, I will be heading back to Vermont and gainful employment (my father is leading cheers) with a small law firm on a permanent basis. All Mail (hint) should be addressed to me at Box 74, Main St., Hydeville, Vt. 05750, visitors welcome.

O yes! Ghort will be coming with me - bought him from my landlord. Ghort is like a lot of people I know - just enough trouble to be fun. Everyone knows how easy lawyers have it, right? So, if you get me the info, the quality of the column might even improve (no wisecracks). Until then, may the summer sun burn your . . .
