This is a very hectic time for us as we prepare for the approaching ski season. The industry ski-condition report was syndicated last year to more than 40 stations in the Northeast and we hope for as much this year. In addition, we handle all the broadcast work for a number of ski areas.
Looking into the raailbag we note that ChrisFuller has been appointed vice president/finance of Thomas J. Lipton, Inc. He will be responsible for all corporate controller and treasury functions for this half-billion-dollar concern. Before moving to Lipton, Chris was vice president of finance and administration for the Pepsi Cola Company.
Dick Bucey, pastor of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, has just dedicated a new $450,000 addition to the Church. Dick says, "this is the culmination of nearly ten years of planning, study, and fund-raising activities on the part of the congregation." In addition to the joy of seeing the years of hard work culminate in the reality of a new building, Dick's son Scott was made a member of the Class of 1981. Congratulations to both of you.
Nearly a decade and a half after his death, a hope that Robert Frost long cherished has been fulfiled with the publication of a new book which is also an old book: an enlarged version of the famous poet's much-celebrated collection called North of Boston. The new and extended edition has been edited by Ed Lathem. This edition, designed by Ed and the distinguished graphic artist Rudolph Ruzicka of Norwich, Vt., contains all of the 17 poems of the original North of Boston, along with 13 additional poems.
At the Goodall Rubber Company's recent annual meeting, Al Katz was elected to the board of directors. Al is vice president of Goodall, a leading manufacturer of industrial rubber products with headquarters in Trenton. Al joined Goodall in 1955 as a management trainee and has served in several capacities with the company. He was appointed to his present post in December of 1970. He and his wife Jean and their three children live in Morrisville, Pa. Al was recently elected a trustee of the Delaware Valley United Way. He has served as a ruling elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisville and is presently the treasurer of the Arborlea Tennis Club.
Wendell Curtis has been appointed director of national accounts in the group insurance operations at Connecticut General Life Insurance Company. Wendall joined the group insurance operations in 1954 as a sales assistant and was advanced to a supervisor in 1959 and to senior underwriter in 1968. He and his wife Joan and two children live in West Hartford, Conn.
Another classmate in the insurance field has received recognition. Bill Harrington has been awarded the professional designation of Certified Insurance Counselor. To qualify for this society you must complete four CIC Institutes, each one devoted to a study of the insurance industry. These institutes are conducted at Dartmouth under the sponsorship of the Independent Mutual Agents of New England. Bill has been active in the insurance business for 25 years, operating agencies in Plymouth and Boston. Bill is also active in alumni affairs as an agent for the Alumni Fund and as a member of the local applicant screening committee. He has been a corporator of the Plymouth Five Cents Savings Bank for many years and was elected trustee in 1977.
We'll be at the Yale Game this weekend, and the Cornell game the 22nd. We hope to see many of you there as they should prove to be a lot of fun.
