At the beginning of April an informal meeting of class officers was held at the Yankee Pedlar Inn in Holyoke, Mass. Gracious hospitality was extended by hosts Kate and Gene Tamburi to newlyweds Carlene and Jim Stephens (who came from nearby Longmeadow), Jim McInnis from Hanover, Phyl and Cliff England from Rye, N.H., Cathie and Paul Lynch from Old Greenwich, Ct., and Easy and Paul Guibord, who came all the way from Binghamton, N.Y. A pleasant time was had by all and preparations were made for the executive committee meeting to be held in Hanover the first weekend in May. Tanna and Bob Fernald, who were still in Florida, were missed, as were Gerry and FrankKappler who were attending a family wedding.

As indicated above, Jim Stephens was married to Carlene last month. Some of us had the pleasure of meeting this charming and attractive gal last fall at the executive committee meeting at Indian Cave Lodge on Lake Sunapee. Plans are already being made for the meeting next fall, which will be held early to coincide with the Princeton game at Hanover, so mark the dates September 16, 17, and 18 down on your calendar. All classmates are invited and welcome to attend. More on this in later issues.

By now everyone should have received the new class directory, the handiwork of MiltJohnston. At this writing, 162 of the postcards accompanying the directory have been received with 101 in favor of the McInnis proposal, 56 against and 5 with no preference. This proposal is to establish as a class project an annual award (similar to the Barrett Cup, which is awarded to a senior man) to be given to the female member of the graduating class who has demonstrated the highest all-around achievement. Phil McInnis is working on the details and the proposal will be submitted to the Executive Committee in May. There will still be funds left over and PaulGuibord has suggested that a project be undertaken that will focus on the traditions of the College that will be meaningful to all our classmates.

At a meeting of the Associated General Contractors of America held recently at Marco Island, Fla., Bob Blades was elected president of the New York chapter. Bob, who is president of A.L. Blades & Sons, of Hornell, N.Y., reports that his daughter Bonnie has presented him with two grandchildren. And from Beatrice, Neb., comes work from Bob Marvin that at the end of 1975 he and his brother sold the Beatrice DailySun, a newspaper that had been in the family for three generations, and that after 39½ years' association with the paper, Bob is enjoying retirement. Besides hobbies like cabinet making, music, reading, and golf and fishing in season, Bob reports there is time for travel and that "We're [I assume he is including wife Dottie] recently returned from the Virgin Islands."

Bob Marvin wrote that about 15 years ago, he and his wife met Steve Stotzer and wife for dinner in Lincoln, Neb. Well, the recent directory mailing also elicited a letter from Steve, who writes on the stationery of the Stotzer Granite Company of Milwaukee, Wis., a company Steve has headed for many years. Steve advises that he recently returned from a delightful trip to and down the West Coast, including stops at the homes of Courtney Catron at Wood-side (Menlo Park), Jack Matzinger at La Jolla (Rancho Santa Fe) and Bill McLaughlin at Palm Springs. Steve's wife Emilie enhanced the trip by her presence, and apparently they were in Palm Springs about the time Henry "Red" Blaik was honored on his 80th birthday, at which event a number of classmates were present, as reported in a recent issue of Tithe and in last month's ALUMNI MAGAZINE

Bob Fernald reports he has recruited a vast army of some 111 volunteer class agents (versus 59 last year), so if you haven't been contacted already you undoubtedly will be soon. The best way to cope with this is to give to the Alumni Fund and to give generously. To meet the class goal and to keep pace with the other classes, particularly 1935, you must give more than you did in 1975! So act accordingly.

Reports from here and there: Pep Minte, along with Pic and Norb Hoffman recently saw Gerri Brooks Schulberg in Hold Me. Pep states she is as charming on stage as she is off! Al Phipps is recovering from a total hip replacement with resultant absence of former severe pain. From Bozeman, Mont., Chan Libby reports he is "still truckin' — beer, that is!" And from Ipswich, Me., Dan Poor is waiting to get out on the golf course again after a long cold winter!
