Bob Weston continues to enjoy the Navy. Now a commander, serving as air operations officer at the Naval air station in Memphis, Tenn., Bob flies transport aircraft all over the United States. He comments, "Barbara and the girls remain at our home in Coronado, Calif., having become firmly entrenched after '12 straight years of Navy duty in the San Diego area. After this current tour (my last, for sure), I will retire from the Navy, return to Coronado and the family, and take up a second career, probably in some aspect of aviation management in southern California. Gail (19) is a straight A student at Pepperdine University, Malibu, Calif., and Audrey (17) graduated from Coronado High School and is off to college."

Pete Vultee is in his 16th year of teaching high school in San Jose, Calif. "My wife Haruko and I have a part-time jewelry business that provides us with an income three times what either of us make, so we're doing fine. Hope to see all my old friends at our 25th." Pete's loyalty towards Hanover is underlined by the fact that he lives at 1008 Dartmouth Lane in Los Altos; keep up the spirit!

Glad to see that Tom Brackett has retained his sense of humor. He reports from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, as follows: "The kids will probably have to repeat next year as the grades just are not up to par; the boss just doesn't understand how tough it is to sell insurance these days and has reduced our salaries again; Margo has gone back to work to help out with the ever-mounting bills. Does anyone have a good used car they could give me a deal on?"

Skeff McAllister works as vice president of Eifert French and Company Inc., specializing in employee benefits, particularly pensions, compensation plans, health benefits, and life insurance. Says he, "For me, most of the fun is involved with international plans." Skeff is on the board of the Y.M.C. A., is vice president of White Plains Hospital Medical Center, where he chairs the quality assurance committee, is a member of the joint conference committee, and sits on the executive committee and finds it "fascinating work!" He reports having seen Moose Morton recently and also spoke with Randy Malin. Skeff resides in Hartsdale, N.Y.

Tom Aley wrote that after three years of living in New Jersey he is in the process of moving to Hanover, where he has become an officer of a little, fast-growing high-technology business on Etna Road named Hypertherm Inc. "My family will be moving up to Eastman, where we bought a house eight years ago. I will obviously get more involved in Dartmouth '59 activities."

Michael Stern, president of Parfums Stern Inc. in New York City, sent along the delightful picture reproduced near this column of himself as a marathoner. With it, the following note: "I thought.you would get a kick out of the enclosed picture the last mile of last year's New York City Marathon (my third year of trying to avoid the over-40 blues). The Dartmouth shirt I was wearing was courtesy of my son Mark, who enters his sophomore year at Dartmouth. He informs me that there are now coed fraternities in Hanover. Another active early-morning Central Park jogger is Dick Press and son they can't be missed decked out in Dartmouth Green." The picture he sent along is reproduced on the opposite page.

Here is an update on recent events in the life of Paul Stein: "I have just concluded what has to have been one of the most exciting, challenging, and satisfying assignments anyone in our Wall Street generation could have had. For the past five years, I was director of Merrill Lynch's cash management account (C.M.A.) program, at first a closely-guarded secret project. C.M.A. is a whole new kind of brokerage account linked to a checkbook and VISA card which has revolutionized the industry. This project took an economics/Arctic studies '59er and taught him more than he ever wanted to know about product development, marketing, computers, law, fending off attacks in legislatures, and the art of negotiating with attorney generals. Now the firm has given me another challenging assignment director of human resources, no small job when you're talking about 23,000 employees. Ann and I live in Summit, N.J., with Valerie (15) and Paul (14). In my travels I have seen Herb Finch, San Francisco attorney extraordinaire."

As for the rest of you, please write a few words of what you are up to we'd love to hear!

Michael Stern '59, wearing a Dartmouth-emblazoned t-shirt obtained through his son Mark, asophomore in Hanover, was a fitting representative of the College in last year's New Yorkmarathon. More details about Stern's recent marathoning exploits are reported in the 1959class notes column.
