Greetings. I trust that everyone is enjoying the spring season. It's even pleasant in Boston despite the Red Sox. But baseball notwithstanding, I'm sure that you're all waiting for the second installment of As the World Turns with J. Wright. Here goes: "... I am a frequent guest and/or intruder at the house of Dave and Diane Smile. Smiley will be finishing up his residency in July and has already had some attractive offers. At this time next year his '72 Chevy will be as bad a memory as Ed Soebeck.
"Smiley and I gave a late-night call to Gary Overfelt in Billings, Mont. Joe was as effusive as ever but we did elicit a sudden interest in a certain Moslem. Many pleasant nights in Mecca for Joe.
"In August, I was in Toronto for a management seminar. While they kept us pretty busy, I did break away for an evening with BruceLing and Jamie Mac Arthur. Jake Johnson unfortunately could not join us due to prior commitments. Linger appears to be well settled with a nice house, several dogs, and a summer retreat.
"After the seminar, 1 stopped in Boston to do a little business and play a lot of golf. I also attended a party at the country estate of Tuckand Carol Bailey. Tuck is an insurance magnate and Carol is raising obnoxious chickens. By this time, 1 would guess that they have had their second baby.
"Shortly after my last letter appeared in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, my secretary came running into my office in a panic-stricken state. She informed me that there was an irate gentleman(?)on the phone long-distance, threatening to kill me. It was none other than Jim Edgeworth calling from Houston. Edgy is apparently doing quite well in the insurance business and in a few years may be able to afford to have someone answer his phone with his name rather than by repeating the number.
"Greg Brown has gone west. At last report, Browny was residing in Marina Del Rey and had an interest in some restaurant business.
"George Kidder has emigrated from Pittsburgh with wife Kathy and son George IV. They report that the sweetest sight in the world is the Steel City in the rear-view mirror. George is opening a loan office for Mellon Banks in Boston. They have bought a house in Wellesley.
"Steve Bruns has tied the knot again. I assume it was a nice affair since I wasn't invited this time either. I tried to call but Brunsy's phone was still disconnected.
"I've run into Chet Homer several times over the past year. Chet is very secretive about his business dealings, but don't be surprised if he owns the lien on your home, car, and family.
"I've received reports that Dave Calgagni is back in Hanover working at Mary Hitchcock. I knew 'Cagni' couldn't stand being very far away from the '02 room or Billings Lee.
"I have heard nothing of Scott Anderson. "Big A,' please write or send pictures.
"Jim and Cindy Johnston are now living in the city of teeth, Salt Lake, Utah. Paco's biggest expenditure last year was his purchase of a rake to bring in all the cash from his radiology work. I also understand that Jim Gilley is in Mr. Young's town.
"I played a round of golf with none other than Peter A. Friberg this summer at Eastman's. 'Porp' and Sally have a brood of children to chase after. Porp's business is good, and unless people stop dying or New England runs out of granite, it should stay that way.
"No word lately on John Seibert. Please call or write do Scott Anderson.
"At the wedding of Gary Dicovitsky 72, I saw Brad Little, Meg, and their brand new little girl. Brad is quickly establishing himself as the communications king of the Northeast. He is also selling telephone systems.
"I also wanted to report on classmates Dave Walkam, Steve Webster, Walt Sustek, Charles Boarman, Trevor Reesjones, Dale Pope, O. C. Radford, Harry Misogiane, Bill McCabe, Rob Miklas, and Riggy, but I've run out of paper and stories.
"My own business and personal affairs continue to be favorable, and I hope that if I have any friends left after this letter that they feel free to stop and visit me in Atlanta."
I think that says it all. My thanks to J. Wright, and I'll see you next month.
