JUNE 1983 Hamilton Chase

This column is being prepared in April, is due by May 1, and will be read in late June, after our reunion.

What can I say? Who would have believed, in May 1982, that this particular May, in 1983, would be here in this short time? It used to take a lot longer.

This seems like a time for predictions, then, as long as all paths have for a year led to Hanover,. June 13—16, for our 35th reunion. I predict that ,as we read this column:

• 85 classmates (a new record turnout) are relaxing in their chairs, recalling the music, the fine weather, the friends under the tent, the cold beer, and, most of all, three days of R&R (relaxing and reminiscing) in the beautiful Hanover setting.

• Walter Peterson is scratching his head thoughtfully, muttering, "Where did I put that gavel?"

• Townes Harris, who ran for re-election to the post of newsletter editor, is asking John Trethaway, "What did I do wrong? I won."

• John Tower is heard to say, "I could have jogged another half-mile easily, the first day."

• Hardy Hendron is claiming a medical first the first office hours held in a reunion tent.

• Bill Hallager and Don Page have a date to ski Tuckerman's in July.

• Treasurer Dick Hollerith is thumbing through registration cards and beer-soaked bilk saying over and over," At 15c a cup, times 190 people, times 17 parties, divided by 12 ounces per cup,' less two gross of free cups, times two tents, plus one picnic ..."

• Ed Senghas is telling Leonora, I can't believe I ate the whole thing."

• Austin Lohse is telling Ginnie that the reunion was a great success only two people called him "Iggy."

• George Cohn is muttering to Sally, still say that shot hit the line. We should have won."

• Tom Harrington has more names in his little black book now than he did before came to the reunion.

• Frank Weber is asking Urs, "Where did you put that quarter keg, dear? We made our quota; now let's celebrate!"

• Al Bildner regrets the wager he made with Jim Osborne that he could still fit into his old lacrosse pants.

• Cotton and Verah Johnson were both wearing their reunion hats, even though unable to attend with us.

• The number of pregnancies resulting from this reunion will be drastically reduced from previous quinquennial gatherings.

• Ham Chase has written a first draft of his 40th reunion letter for 1987.

• And the Norwich Inn is shaking with delight because the class of' 47 has just reserved that hostelry for its fall mini-reunion, the weekend of October 1 and 2 for the Holy Cross game. Plan to join us, see colored leaves, and reminisce about the reminiscing!

Start planning, boys! See you soon.
