Included in the record-smashing Alumni Fund totals were contributions totaling $450,111 from Dartmouth parents in a separate campaign conducted this year under the co-chairmanship of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O'Connor of Houston, Tex. Their son, John, was graduated in June. Altogether 2,148 parents contributed to the Fund, making it the largest amount raised in the 30-year history of the Parents Fund.
This isn't the first time the Dartmouth contingent has distinguished itself among similar parents fund organizations. In fact, for the past three years, the Dartmouth Parents Fund has led the nation in total dollars and number of parent donors, and current indications are that when all the figures are in, the Dartmouth group will again be tops in dollars and probably second (to Princeton, alas) in the total number of contributers, according to Thomas B. Campion, Parents Fund director. Campion, incidentally, does not own a certain store down on Main Street. He and his wife, Nardi, are the parents of three Dartmouth sons.
