Holy Cross 30, Dartmouth 20
Dartmouth went into its non-league game at Holy Cross as a 26 point underdog. The Green certainly didn't look it, however, heading into the fourth quarter. Dartmouth played the undefeated Crusaders, the third ranked Division I-AA team in the nation, to a 2020 standoff for three quarters.
But the upset bid started to fall apart when senior tailback Rich Weissman went down with a knee injury. Weissman had carried the ball 17 times for 93 yards and caught seven passes for 72 yards before leaving Fitton Field on crutches. Holy Cross scored ten unanswered points.

With Weissman out for the season, the Big Green had to rely on the pass more than ever. Senior quarterback Mike Caraviello established school records for passes attempted and completed, He connected on 30 of 48 attempts for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Caraviello is only the second Dartmouth quarterback (Bill King '63 did it against Columbia in 1962) to pass for more than 300 yards in a game.
Despite Caraviello's performance, Dartmouth still remained winless. The defense was the main culprit, allowing 294 yards rushing. In its first four games, the defense gave up 1,232 yards rushing for a 308 yard progame average.
Harvard 21, Dartmouth 7
It was the fifth straight defeat for the Green, tying a school record set in 1953 for most consecutive losses at the start of a season. The team's winless streak, dating back to last season, was stretched to eight games. The defeat also brought an end to Dartmouth's five-game winning streak against Harvard.
Senior Lorenzo Chambers, filling in for Weissman, gained 100 yards on 21 carries.
Senior Lorenzo Chambers, number 35, bulls ahead for some of his 183 yards in the footballteam's first victory a 41-9 win over Columbia just at presstime.
