Red Sanborn's big news of the winter was that granddaughter Pam Lombard got an early admission to Dartmouth. Red admits he was discouraged about having a fifth consecutive generation representative in the family when Pam's older sister, Karen, picked Williams. Now the chain is unbroken: grandfather, class of 1869; father, class of 1895; Red; son Scott '62; and Pam. Pam is young for her class and may not enter until the fall of 1986 and may spend next year in some foreign program.
Red and Fonty just got back from their an- nual birding and sunning trip this time down the East Coast to Georgia, across Tallahassee, and down the Gulf Coast, ending up in the Everglades. They had one beautiful 80-degree week, but it was warmer this February in Kennebunkport than it was much of the time in Florida. Red says it has been so warm that he tapped his maple grove and had an amazingly good run of sap.
Don Solis wrote in March (from 3394 Dartmouth Lane, Sarasota): "On this big 80th birthday, we had a most enjoyable luncheon with Sue Bavier and Ethel and John Nixon. It is always nice to have the snowbird Nixons with us this time of year."

Mitch and Grace Mitchell of Hendersonville, N.C., rented an apartment for two months in Fort Lauderdale, only 20 yards from their daughter and son-in-law's boat on which they live while he teaches philosophy during the winter term at the University of Miami. Mary and I tried to arrange to get together during our one week in Hollywood, Fla., but the Mitchells left just before we arrived on March 29.
