In what is believed to be a first in Dartmouth skiing history, all five members of the men's Alpine team that competed in the NCAA Championships have earned all-America honors.

Tom Foote '87, Terry Delliquadri '88, and Miles deChamps 'B7 were named to the first team, while Jory Macomber '85 and Chan Morgan 'B6 made the second team.

Foote was the incredible story, coming out of nowhere to win the national men's giant slalom title. "We knew he had the potential and the ability to ski well," says Dartmouth head ski coach John Morton. "But usually in a highstress situation like that things go wrong instead of right."

As a team, Dartmouth finished fourth in the NCAA Championships.

In other ski news, Chris Bean '85 and Macomber were named co-recipients of the Gebhardt Award the team's most prestigious award. It was established in the name of Bob Gebhardt '58, a member of Dartmouth's 1958 NCAA championship team who was killed in a 1968 boating accident. The award is voted upon by team members and coaches. It goes to the skier or skiers who demonstrate sportsmanship, hard work, and loyalty to Dartmouth and the ski team.

Delliquadri was honored as the team's top freshman skier, receiving the Cooke Award. The award is named in memory of Donald J. Cooke '57, a ski team manager, who died in 1955 while he was a student at Dartmouth.

The Norwegian Trophy was given to Delliquadri for being Dartmouth's best skier throughout the season. The trophy was presented to the team by three former members from Norway: Hans Preben Mehlen '68, Per Coucheron '68, and Erik Sunde '69.

The coaching staff also presented awards to the most improved skier in each event. Foote won in Alpine, while Martin Kryska '86 was the Nordic recipient. Brooks Elder 'B6 and Phil Burrow 'B6 shared the jumping award.

Jon Underwood '86, a Nordic skier, and Morgan, an Alpine skier, were named co-captains of the 1985-86 Dartmouth ski team.
