The Dartmouth baseball team had a good season and looks to an even better one next year. The team finished at 18- 22 overall the most wins in ten years.
The best part is that the entire starting lineup is scheduled to return in 1986. The most impressive player this season was freshman Mike Remlinger of Plymouth, Mass., who established himself as one of the premier pitchers in the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League (EIBL). Remlinger, a left-hander, finished with a 6-3 record and a 2.40 ERA (1.80 in the EIBL).
Offensively, Dartmouth set a record for team batting average, hitting .287. The old mark of .285 had stood for 48 years. Junior co-captain Jim Lavery of Arlington, Mass., hit .346 and led Dartmouth in almost every offensive category. He smashed nine home runs this season to give him 21 for a career mark - both school records.
