Pennsylvania 55, Dartmouth 24
The Dartmouth football team came close to establishing several school records in the season-opener at Memorial Field. Unfortunately, they were the wrong kind of records.
It was the most points the Green has allowed in a season-opener in 100 years. It was the most points given up by the Green since a 56-15 loss to Yale in 1967.
The defeat also marked Dartmouth's third consecutive loss to Penn.
New Hampshire 38, Dartmouth 10
Coach Joe Yukica's winless streak in non-league games was stretched to 17 against the Wildcats at Memorial Field.
Five turnovers, including four interceptions, led to Dartmouth's downfall. The Green only trailed 17-10 at the half, but a Mike Caraviello interception on the second play of the third quarter was the beginning of the end.
Perhaps the worst part of the loss was the injury sustained by senior wide receiver Mike Viccora '85. Viccora suffered a separated shoulder and was expected to miss the rest of the season.
On a positive note, tailback Rich Weissman '85 caught eight passes for 83 yards.
