Marty Kerwin gets around! He won't be with us at either of the minis this year, but he keeps in touch with us of '33 and with other Dartmouth folks. This fall, he had a golfing weekend with guys out of '34, '35, and '38. That was in the Ozarks. Then, in St. Louis, Mo., he expected to see Pete and Mary Grace and Bob Sewell and Genevieve Turner. This past spring he played some golf with John S. and PazThompson in Tryon, N.C. Before that, he went to Australia and New Zealand for six weeks, seeing his nephew, Bob Kerwin '73, and playing tennis in a tournament with an Aussie as partner. He said they did well in the early rounds.

The Rugen family had a reunion this summer in Princeton, N.J. You thought one Rugen was too many. We had 38 attending. In addition to one from '33, there were Dave '38, Dick '42, Bob '51, and Kate '83. Rebecca 'B6 didn't make it, as she was taking a break between graduation and entering U-Conn Medical School this fall.

Billie Beekman, widow of Alston, thanked the class for the memorial book placed in Baker Library in Al's memory. It is on a historical subject, appropriate to his major in history.

Norm Erlandson's wife, Margaret, died on September 5. Jeff and Bea Davis attended the memorial service. Norm was told of our sympathy in his loss.

Hank Smith and Jack Manchester are carrying on the plans for the mini around the Navy game, plans started by Page. About 30 are expected so far, including Hank and Ginnie McKee, up from Florida. They then go on to Cape May, N.J.

John Monagan, our assistant class secretary, is writing next month's class notes.

Plans are so set for the Hanover mini, September 19-20, that it can be described before it occurs. (This is written on the 15th.) There will be about 50 classmates and family members attending one or more of the events. Friday night, there is a cocktail party and a buffet dinner in a private room in Thayer Hall. A brief business meeting will follow, with Vice President Jeff Davis presiding. Finances, early plans for our 55th reunion under BillHitchcock's leadership, and a final report on the '86 Alumni Fund, given by Mannie Sprague, are on the agenda. The dates of our 55th are June 13-15, 1988.

At 10 o'clock, Saturday morning, there will be a memorial service for Page Worthington in Rollins Chapel. Margaret will attend, accompanied by her son, Chuck Campbell and his wife, Helen.

Ro Burbank, Jud Pierson, Bob Niebling, and Mannie Sprague are taking part in the service, as is Mike McGean '49. Mike, as secretary of alumni, knew so well Page's many services to the College. The organ music will include the Navy Hymn and "Dartmouth Undying."

At noontime there will be the usual tailgate luncheon at the Manchesters' prior to the game. Fears! Penn is loaded!

That evening, we gather at Pierce's Inn, in Etna, for cocktails and a filet mignon dinner. Ray Pierce '46 has been so impressed with Ted Allen's piano playing and 1933's singing at past minis, that he has promised to join us with his drums.

It is fitting to end these notes with re- marks from people who have written but cannot attend this special mini-reunion. Bill Lang and Horace Shaw both ex- pressed their great sadness at Page's death. Ray Theriault will be on a trip to Scotland but wrote, "Best to all class- mates. Have a really good time that is what Page would want."

A recent meeting of the Rugen clan included Rugens from several Dartmouth classes. Pictured here, from left to right, are Dave '38, Bob '51, Kate '83, Dick '42, and Carl '33. See Carl's_ '33 column formore details of the event.
