How much wood?
The 40th annual Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Competition will be held in Hanover on May 2 and 3, during Green Key and Class Officers Weekends. Hosted by the Cabin and Trail division of the DOC, the meet will include some 30 men's and women's teams from ten schools. The first meet, organized by long-time DOC adviser Ross McKenny, was held at Dartmouth in 1947. This year's event will include canoe and portage races; chopping and sawing for speed; throwing, rolling, and lifting logs; axe throwing at targets; and pole climbing; and a relay race with a 50-pound pack. Events on the 2nd will be held at Storrs Pond and the competition will move to the Green on the 3rd. All parts of the meet are free and alumni are invited to attend.
