Rugby club journeys to England
MAY 1986

The Dartmouth Rugby Football Club, the most successful club sport at the College for the past several years, spent spring break on a 12-day tour of England in preparation for the grueling national championship tournament ahead of them.

Established in 1951, the DRFC is supported by alumni contributions, which enabled 23 of the club's members to go abroad on this year's annual spring trip. The 1985 New England and Northeastern Regional Champions played four matches against British teams. The DRFC chalked up wins over St. Paul's RFC, by a score of 14-12, and the UC London RFC, 26-6, and lost to the Rugby Football Club and Moseley FC. In addition to getting an inside view of English rugby during the games, the DRFC benefited from from several coaching sessions.

Back in Hanover after break, the club intended to close out its spring season with a May 17 game against alumni of the DFRC.

A line out jump by the Dartmouth Rugby Football Club in the Northeastern Championshipsin early April. Final score: Dartmouth 27-Army 6.
