When William Webster, new head of the C.I. A., appeared on campus in October to speak on "New Challenges for Intelligence: The Problem of Terrorism and Narcotics," he began by extending greetings to the audience from the 58 anonymous Dartmouth alumni who currently serve in his organization.
Douglas L. Wheeler '59 is not one of them. He is, however, a Ph.D and professor of history at the University of New Hampshire who is interested in the subject. He makes the following request. "I am engaged in professional historical research on Dartmouth alumni/alumnae and faculty who served in Intelligence—political and military—in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, or other conflicts. I would appreciate hearing from them by phone or letter about their experiences. Confidentiality will be respected." While anyone who meets this description is well qualified to track him down without our help, Dr. Wheeler can be reached at the UNH department of history, Durham NH 03824, telephone 603/868-9633.
