Thank you for sending in your questionnaires. We expect to have about 50 percent of them in by mid-June. So, let that be a reminder to the rest of you! We hope to print by mid-fall.

Doctor Art Root's sister-in-law (Mrs. Nathan Root '33) writes the letters that keep us up to date on Art: "He has three sons: David, a physicist, is living in California; Jonathan '79, also an M.D., lives and practices in St. Louis; Robbie, the youngest, is a senior at Yale Medical School. Art recently stepped down after three years as president of the New York Psychoanalytical Institute." Thank you, Mrs. Root.

St. Paddy's Day brought a smile and a card from Alice and Jack Fitzgerald and another card from Maui brought greetings from Lee and Jack O'Shea, enjoying a couple of weeks of sun and fun. Lloyd Blanchard took time off from Alumni Fund work to say hello: "Had a wonderful 70th. Heather, husband Steve and new baby Christopher came up and Kevin was here, too, for a real family gathering. Peg and I have survived the winter and are planning a trip to Newfoundland this (past) May. Best regards, Lloyd." Thankee for the news!

Next to come on board, Scotty Rogers: "We had a good reunion with Jim and Miki Scott—golf, dinners, fun. Loomie and I enjoyed their visit. Bruce Miller joined us for golf and we all played well! Larry Cate was visiting in the area and we spoke by phone but couldn't connect. Best to all, Scotty." We also heard from DE Jones down Captiva way that Scotty had zoomed in, along with Jack Willson. They had good lunch reun- ion, getting up to date. A later note from Scotty reports that Ty and Rhoda Cobb, the Rogerses, Karl and Ginny Bruch (finishing off a Pacific Tour), and Joe and Genevieve Huber were together at the March reception for the Dartmouth tennis team in La Jolla. More travel news: Jane and Bill Huffman had a marvelous three weeks in Kenya during February. Ben and Gene Bacon were off on a cargo ship bound for the west coast of South America.

Here's a nice update from Dan Feldman: "We have three children who have thus far produced 5 grandchildren. Joel ('70 Summa Cum Laude) a vascular surgeon in Indianapolis; Deborah, graduated from Barnard, MA from Columbia in Architecture, lives in Malibu, Calif.; Jonathan, American University, a manager for GTE's Spacenet, lives in Reston, Va. My wife Bert (Roberta) had her own store in nearby West Farms Mall and is now a manager of a store there. I do volunteer work at the Newington (Conn.) Children's Hospital and will take over in May as president of the hospital's auxiliary. This year I am painting with oils no Grandma Moses, but I'm enjoying! Cordially, Dan."

Joe Dunford sends a card from San Carlos, Sonora. He's involved with Shangri-La Casas Moviles park there and had daughters Polly and Beth there with him for a visit. San Carlos is a sleepy fishing village with a great harbor, good beaches and none of the commercial glitz. He says we won't believe that he has to work hard while he's there. True, Joe, True.

Who put Wright Shoes back on a growth track? According to the Wall Street Journal it was Iver Olson. Iver sent along a copy of the clipping together with a hello and update: "We are all well and looking forward to a family B-party. I retired in 'BO after 23 years with American Footwear Industries Assn. It was fun for a while, but then I picked up a few clients just enough to keep us in the mainstream. Regards, Iver." Bob Wetzler has a new address (1401

Gotham Court West; St. James NY 11780; phone 516/862-8713) and a lot of new plans after retiring from "the business life." He and Dree were in China in May and will be sailing on Long Island this summer. Also on the move: Bob and June Austin were in England in May to see a World War II friend and also the annual competition of the British Barbershoppers.

Pinnacle Public Relations is Bob Graham's current cover, and it keeps him busy these days. He and Lili went back to her homeland (Austria) last fall for scenery, memories hiking and climbing. Since then they've been visiting children (Chris '82, Andy '80, T '86) and watched daughter Leslie graduate from nursing school.

A nice long letter from Gard Ashley puts forth a good idea for a possible mini-reunion: use the Alumni College as the basis. It is stimulating, always has a high percentage of '40s, and the accommodations at the Tuck Mall dorm are luxurious. We should reserve them for our 50th!. Thanks, Gard. I've sent the letter along to Bob, who has more space in the Drum.

A recent issue of Printout reports that a poll of 2,218 students on whether or not to change the lyrics of "Men of Dartmouth" showed 61 percent opposed to any change.

The Charlotte, N.C. paper carried a nice profile of Bob Armstrong. Bob's interest in woodworking has progressed to the point where he is now creating his own designs, including a walnut chair for the North Carolina Tourism Bureau. Jim Faulkner reports that he has just gotten out of the hospital after a bout with ventricular fibrillation. He's resting up, hoping to head north for the summer. Come on up, Jim! Now, some quickies from the questionnaires: Tom Ballantyne: busy writing for several financial clients. Rog Conant runs fishing trips to Costa Rica, Panama, and Canada, and hunting trips to Scotland and Maryland. (Some nice retirement!) Johnny Crandell is recovering from hip revision (all is well), Betty is fine; golfing.

Have a great summer send postcards to Dick Bowman.
