1913

Marc Snowell Wright, our class secretary for the past seven years, died suddenly of a heart attack on August 5. The details appeared in the September issue. Let it be said here that Marc was highly respected not only by his classmates but also by many undergraduates in contemporary classes for his athletic ability, his loyalty to the College and the Class of 1913, and his willingness to help others in many ways. As secretary he was conscientious and untiring in the preparation of class notes, obituaries, and in corresponding with the bereaved families of classmates. His death is a very distinct loss to the College and our Class.

In a letter from her home in East Derry, N.H., Renza Shepard said she thought some news from that area would be welcome. It is

"Helen Knight visited me for a couple of weeks and I called Ruth Gay King to see if they would be at home. There was no answer so, as we had extra time on our way to a 50th wedding anniversary over in Charlestown, N.H., we stopped at some friends in Peterborough, N.H., Kenneth and Charlotte Jewett. I asked them if they knew Ruth and Thorn King and they did called them again, and found them at home."

We called on them at their home in Hancock and had a wonderful time. Ruth asked us to stay for luncheon and we ate in a beautiful dining room with so much historical interest in 1975-6 When they were stripping the paper off they found original paintings of scenes in Boston-Bunker Hill, even to the Blue Hills which they have preserved - a perfectly beautiful hooked rug on wall of an autumn scene. It's just a treasure house, and the two within its walls so hospitable and happy.

"Hope your summer has been enjoyable. I am looking forward to a visit from Alan and Louise and daughter Polly and Warren on the occasion of a birthday early in September. Best to all 1913ers. (s) Renza Shepard."
