The Wall Street Journal recently reported that George Gardella was named president of Wood Struthers & Winthrop Management Corporation. Wood Struthers is a New York-based money management subsidiary of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc., which in turn is owned by Equitable Life Assurance Society. George was a senior investment manager at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company. George has three children Carolyn (19), Matt (17), and Diane (14).
My old track buddy; Tom Yahn has received a master of education degree in administration management from the Cambridge College Graduate Program in Northampton, Mass. For the past five years Tom has been a member of the faculty at Norwich University of Northfield, Vt.
Greenwich-based American Can Company has promoted Jim Long to executive vice president, mergers and acquisitions. He is also chairman of the company's acquisitions committee and a member of the operating committee. Jim joined American Can in 1975 as manager, asset management, and was promoted to director in 1977. In 1978 he was made managing director, mergers and acquisitions, in 1979 vice president, and in 1984, senior vice president.
