At the annual meeting held last summer Gaylord A. Freeman Jr. '31 succeeded Robert T. Mortimer '47 as president of the Chicago Association. Completing the slate of new officers are Hugh K. Brower '50, vice president, Albert E. Grinton '54, secretary, and Richard K. Frey '50, treasurer. A big vote of thanks is due Bob Mortimer, HerbKnight '51 and Dick Frey for the fine job they did in guiding the fortunes of the association last year. Herb, incidentally, has been lost to our Chicago Association, as he has accepted a new position with a firm in Milwaukee.

The new regime, with the very able assistance of Bob Willey '56 and Jack Senne'53, got the new year off to a roaring start at the annual picnic held in August. As usual Ralph Johnson '41 was a most gracious host at his Barrington estate. Also in the tradition of this event, the alumni gave the undergraduates a Softball lesson and Herb West added the Hanover flavor which all of us look forward to each year. A record attendance of 135, led by Herbert H.Mitchell '07 and Hiram H. Belding Jr. '18, joined in welcoming 29 undergraduates, including 12 of our Chicago Pea Green candidates and their fathers.

With this success now a matter of record the officers are busily engaged insuring that other events will be equally successful. The fall activities were kicked off by Orton Hicks '21, vice president of the College, at a luncheon held at the Chicago Club, October 5. This proved a highly successful experiment and additional luncheons are currently being planned.

The New Haven Club's first Club Scholarship is presented to Henry N. Homeyer'68 (I) of Woodbridge by club officersCharlie Rauch '30 (c) and Bob Adnopoz'54. Henry was an outstanding studentat nearby Amity Regional High School.
