Never gave up: Dartmouth College, never gave up on Brenda Montgomery Tullis. The Utica, N.Y., resident who came to the College in 1974 as part of the Bridge program for minority students dropped out in her junior year to start a family. However, Dartmouth stayed in touch and convinced her to return. Last summer, Tullis took a class overload, worked 40 hours a week as a waitress at Lou's and completed her degree requirements. Tullis said she didn't want any other degree but a Dartmouth degree.
