The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation awarded Dartmouth professors Richard Joseph, David Parry, and Carol Fowler fellowships for the upcoming academic year. Joseph will finish a book on the Obafemi Awolowo of Nigeria. Parry plans to complete the third film in an "autobiographical trilogy." Fowler will study the "noncognitive backdrop" for speaking.
In other faculty news, Professor Errol Hill was awarded a Fulbright grant to study the history of theater in Jamaica. And Professor David M. Lemal was presented a "Catalyst Award" by the Chemical Manufacturers Association for creative teaching in science.
