Dartmouth's men's cross-country coach Vin Lananna was named by the NCAA as 1987 Coach of the Year. The Dartmouth harriers won their sixth consecutive Ivy League title, then won IC4A championship for the first time since 1943. Dartmouth eventually took second place in the national championships.
