Already, I have a confession to make. This particular column will be much shorter than usual because it is now halftime of the Patriots-Dolphins game. Unfortunately, I do not type fast enough to get in a full-length feature article. This will also give you an idea of what I do with most of my weekends. I am not sure why I am so concerned about this since the Bears are already shuffling off to the Super Bowl. Hopefully, by the time you read this the Bears will have rewarded us with a win in New Orleans.
The first bit of news comes from a local Christmas party in our neighborhood, with several classmates in attendance. Emily Foley Parry and Bruce Williamson '74 were there. Of course, children were also in abundance, which was the real reason for the party in the first place. As luck would have it, the guest of honor was Santa Claus, or at least the best acting thereof performed by Rick Waddell.
Just a brief editor's correction of an apparent oversight on my part. Or to hear Jeff Sassorossi tell it, it was a premeditated misspelling. I misspelled Siena College in the last issue, and I hope that I now have it spelled correctly. With my luck, I have now misspelled Jeff's name.
Dave Rettig wrote a nice letter to me from his shop in Santa Fe, N.M. Dave recently settled in Santa Fe and set up an art gallery with his partner, Sandra Martinez. The Rettig y Martinez Gallery specializes in a group of regional contem- porary artists, most of whom Dave has known for a number of years.
James Thiel writes from his home in Frankfurt, West Germany, that he is quite willing to start anyone on the first leg of their European tour. He lives only 20 minutes from the airport, so I suppose he is fair game for freeloaders. He is especially interested in catching up with some of his old rowing cronies. My guess is that there are lot more rowers today than there were when we were in school.
Sorry, folks, it's 24-7, and I've got to run. See you next month.
