November apparently was a good month for writing letters, as I received several. Not surprisingly, most of the letters informed me of engagements and marriages. Some included pictures—which may appear in this issue or perhaps in a future issue.
The letter of the month, however, goes to Weyman Lundquist '52, father of EricaLundquist. For the past two years, Erica, as a Peace Corps volunteer, has lived in a small hut in Zaire. She has been assisting Zairians in fish farming. During the course of her work, she has dealt with everything from motorcycle maintenance to the art of Zairian cooking. Erica's endured or enjoyed a few adventures ranging from government overthrows to triple disease hits with hospitals and doctors hundreds of miles away. Recently she took a breather by joining her father on a trip around the Soviet Union, partly involving human rights issues, partly for fun.
Erica will depart Zaire this February. She reports to her father that she is now starting to "plan the rest of her life." Initially, of course, that involves "a little adventure" by way of world travel, and perhaps a bicycle trip across the U.S. Then? Who knows! Thank you, Mr. Lundquist, for the update!
There were more than 50 alums in attendance when Kay Christophe 'B6 and Prescott Romeyn had their "Big Green" wedding in August. Kay's dad is Phil Christophe '54. Congratulations and best wishes to them both!
Also recently married were Craig Perzan and Natalie Monroe. Their wedding was on September 5 at Gunnison Chapel at St. Lawrence University. Natalie is employed by China International Ventures, Inc., in New York City, while Craig works at Morgan Guaranty Trust, also in NYC. After honeymooning in Mexico the newlyweds returned to their residence in Weehawken, N.J.
Calvary Episcopal Church in Summit, N.J., was the setting for the November 28 wedding of Elizabeth Cochran and MarkByrnes. The new Mrs. Byrnes is an account executive at Ogilvy & Mather advertising in NYC. Mark is trading options for the foreign exchange department of Salomon Brothers in New York.
Teresa Galvin and John Anderson Jr. took their vows at Dartmouth's Aquinas House. After a trip to Paris and Italy, John and Teresa will live in East Providence.
Okay, we're finished with the marriages for the time being, and will move on to the engagements. Rob Clark popped the question to Mary-Ellen Barrett sometime last summer. Mary-Ellen, Georgetown '85, is a classmate of Rob's at the U-Conn School of Law. The wedding is set for next summer after the two of them take the bar exam. Rob has already accepted a judicial clerkship on the Connecticut Supreme Court following their graduation.
I also received a nice letter from June Palumbo informing me of her engagement to a "wonderful man who used to be" her boss's boss. We all have heard that advertising is an incestuous business! June is still at DFS—now known as Saatchi & Saatchi DFS Compton—and is an account executive on General Mills.
June's wedding on October 1 will also be a "Big Green" affair, as all of her bridal attendants are Dartmouth friends, with Anne Mahoney '86 and Kathleen Lyons as her maids of honor. June shares an apartment in NYC with Anne. However, this is Anne's "corporate apartment," as she is actually living in Washington D.C. Kathy is working as a real estate analyst at Eliot Bank. Living in Boston, she runs into ScottKehoe, Michael Caraviello, and Jim Cleary quite often.
Thanks for keeping in touch, folks. Happy New Year!
