When the Glee Club is scheduled to sing in Providence, we know we can look forward to an exciting and reminiscent evening and when our President Bob Zeiser '49 is charge d'affaires, we know it will be a huge success. On February 22 both factors combined perfectly and the results were rich and rewarding - especially for our own Arthur H. Ruggles Scholarship Fund, which received a tremendous financial boost.

Speaking of the Ruggles Fund, the Scholarship Committee ably headed by Don Taylor '43 is, for the second time, busily at work narrowing down the field of candidates. This year one boy will be chosen with his name being announced at the annual dinner. Our first Ruggles scholar, Carl Battaglia '62, is currently in his first year at Tufts Medical School.

On May 7 the annual dinner meeting will be held at the Hearthstone Motor Inn. We will be honored at the dinner to have as guest speaker Waldo Chamberlin, dean of the new Summer School. All alumni are urged to attend.

This year, for the first time, the Rhode Island Association's Book Award will be given to seven outstanding high school juniors at as many schools here in Rhode Island. The award consists of a year's subscription to the American Heritage Magazine. The program, by the way. has been met with great enthusiasm by local high school administrators. We hope in the very near future to furnish sufficient details to other clubs that may be interested in beginning a similar program.

Thayer School Dean Myron Tribus (center) spoke at the annual club dinner in St.Louis. With him are Leigh Turner '04(I), and Frank Myers, father of a '64.
