Many members of the class of 1943 served in the military during World War II, Korea, perhaps even Vietnam.
Because these experiences had lasting impact on the lives of those involved, the class is collecting from its members wartime anecdotes for possible publication in conjunction with our 45th Reunion in June.
The written accounts might include bureaucratic foul-ups, zany characters encountered, or just hilarious tales. For the time being at least, avoid stories of heroism or tragedy.
We have heard, for instance, of one classmate who—when in charge of the bridge on an aircraft carrier—ordered a 120-degree turn to port while the rest of the flotilla did a 120-degree to starboard. The classmate didn't make the navy a career.
Now's the time to jot down all those wartime tales you've been regaling people with for years. Keep them short—about 200 words—and send them to class secretary Tom Gerber, RFD 7, Box 34, Concord, NH 03301.
