Song of Dartmouth

At last a decision over "Men of Dartmouth" seems imminent. The Alumni Council Ad Hoc Committee on the Alma Mater has recommended only minimal modifications to the song. Last year a student committee advocated commissioning a new song and modifying the lyrics if an acceptable song didn't emerge.

President Freedman plans to make a decision in the next few months. He told The Wall Street Journal, "The fact that the alma mater is entitled and has a number of references only to men quite understandably is of concern to both men and women."
