Bulletin: The Associated Press has reported that California state senator and 1949 class secretary Quentin Kopp has introduced legislation that would make West Coast Swing the state dancejoining the ranks of other officially recognized entities such as the dog-faced butterfly (state insect) and saber-toothed cat (state fossil). According to the AP, the West Coast Swing lobby describes the dance as "a variation of the jitterbug, a jazz dance. The man dances in one spot and passes the woman from side to side."
Now, how about recognizing the earthquake (state event) and the hot tub (state rendezvous)? Californians, write your senator.
