The class is extremely sorry that Bob Bliss has found it advisable, for health and other reasons, to relinquish his job as editor of the class newsletter, The Speakeasy. He has done a great job in this important assignment. Until a successor is found, our president, Rog Bury, is temporarily carrying the ball.

Ted Rose, after an extended silence, wrote: "Here we are at age 85 and there is no turning back of the clock. I've had a good life, enjoyed it, and look forward to more. When I think back to all of the wonderful fellows who comprised 1927,1 have an inner feeling that it's the best class that Dartmouth ever turned out."

Doc Harvey also sent in his thanks for the class birthday card, and noted that he and Vera are both well. They had just returned to Sarasota, Fla., after attending the wedding of their oldest grandson.

From Merritt Joslyn, the latest is that he has recently sold his old family home- stead in Hinsdale, 111., and moved to California where he is now a bona fide citizen. He still plays golf and recently shot his age (83) for the fifth time. Jos is looking forward to next summer when he and Penny are planning a boat trip on the Royal Viking that sets out from London, goes to Norway, Stockholm, Helsinki, Leningrad, and finally ends up in Copenhagen.

ERRATA: In our column in the Summer 1989 issue we made an error for which we humbly apologize. On page 50 in the last sentence of the paragraph describing the card that we received from Bill Ward, we inadvertently omitted three words. That omission altered the meaning that Bill had intended to convey. Here is a restatement of this sentence as it should have been written. "I admire greatly my classmates who keep the 1927 class organization alive. I wish that I could have the same feeling for the administration and board of trustees."

In closing, we regret to have to pass on the word of the death of Lloyd Eno on July 29.
