MARCH 1989 Erwin P. Paddock,

We arrive at March with two thank yous. First, thanks to those thoughtful classmates who sent greetings over the holidays. Next, we would like to acknowledge the help of my wife, Ruth, who deciphers all of the cards and letters, reads them to me and then types the draft of this column for your subsequent reading.

Catching up, belatedly, with 1988 news, Rog Braman had more than his share of misfortune. He was out of commission for a good part of the year when the car that he was driving in April was struck and totaled by another car that was driving at a high rate of speed.

Travel news is a bit scanty this month and consists only of a note on Rog Bury's Christmas card that he and Lolly were about to leave for a 14-day cruise in the Caribbean.

Norm Swift wrote to advise us that he had, in fact, made it through his 82 nd and into his 83 rd, and that all was well with him and Ruth in Montrose, Va. By November, he had recovered well from a hot summer at his place in Maine.

Also from Virginia, but this time from Falls Church, Brick Stone acknowledged that he and Edna are well and in good health. They enjoy living in a retirement home with good food and good company.

Johnny Hough wrote from Boulder, Colo., "In answer to your inquiry as to 'are you well,' the answer is very much so, except for a few minor geriatric ailments. We lead a quiet life here in retirement and do not take any long trips any more."

It is with regret that we note that John Palmer Williams died in his sleep on December 3, in his home in Manchester Center, Vt., and Melville Heald Partridge died on January 5, in Hadley, Mass.

We end this piece on a happy note from Fenaming Tung who now lives in New York City and with whom many of us had Eleasant chats when, after a long absence, e returned to Hanover for our 60th Reunion. "Thanks, Charlie, for your recent class birthday card. May our Almighty God bless you and your loved ones to live 120 years in good health and happiness."
