MARCH 1989 Carl L. N. Erdman,

The beauty of the Hanover plain has drawn Crummy and Tommy Crumbine back to the environs. They moved to a condo in En field, N.H., in January. Two sons, both Dartmouth graduates, live in Greenwich, Conn., a daughter in Plainfield, N.H., and a granddaughter is in the freshman class at Dartmouth-good reasons to be in New Hampshire. We welcome you to the '37 contingent, which continues to grow.

Russ and Lee Stearns celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and '37 classmates Lem and Elizabeth Bowen, Ben and Marge Doran, Fran and Mary Fenn, and John and Nancy Milne. The Stearns, for many years, have done so much for our class in arranging reunions and mini-reunions, we extend our heartiest congratulations.

Fran and Fred Asher told us of their 50th wedding anniversary in a Christmas greeting with pictures of Fred and Fran on their wedding day on June 30, 1938. A great idea, Fred, and you don't look a day older.

President Fran Fenn reports six children and grandchildren of our class attending Dartmouth as follows: Christine Crabb, a junior, granddaughter of Bob Crabb, Kim Anstatt, a sophomore, daughter of Herman Anstatt; Astrid Collis, a sophomore, daughter of Charlie Collis; and three freshmen, Katie Geller, granddaughter of Bert Geller; Jennifer Koop, granddaughter of Chick Koop; and the aforementioned granddaughter of Crummy Crumbine.

The Christmas letter from Bill and Patty Rotch convinced your secretary that there is plenty of the granite of New Hampshire in Bill. His travels the past year to Jordan, Israel and the West Bank, then Switzerland, and now in January on a camping trip for two weeks along the Usumacinta River between Mexico and Guatemala. I hope he remembers the lessons he learned in the Dartmouth Outing Club.

I am looking forward to a skiing vacation in Courmayeur, Italy, in February. Skiing technique has changed many times since the days of rec skiing on the Hanover golf course and Balch Hill, but it's still a great outdoor sport. Viewing the Alps, the Matterhorn, or Mt. Blanc from high on the slopes is fantastic.
