Kudos to class head agent Ben Jones and his armada of co-pilots for winning the 1990 Alumni Fund's group IV Green Derby, consisting of the classes of 1943 through 1947. With a final combined rating of 182.8 percent, we outdistanced runner-up class of 1943 by a cool 15.1 percent. Our total dollar objective was a heady $137,000 and Ben and His Boys pulled in $155,665. Warm thanks, too, to every one of our 305 donors.

Van Gogh and Picasso move over: Clint Gardner's wife, Libby, and Rod Morgan were among local painters exhibiting their work at Hanover's town libraiy last spring.

As fall approaches, our robins and swallows will be heading south; so, among many other classmates, will be our Harrises, Marshalls, Hagens, Bloods, and Arnolds. Some are already there on a permanent basis. Rog and Mary Arnold have lived in Jacksonville, Fla., for a number of years. Rog has been slowed by a heart pitter-patter, but says he's doing well—lots of reading and puttering. John and Betty Callow have forsaken Connecticut for Savannah, Ga., and golfer John says they are enjoying life to the fullest. There are five golf courses within driving, or putting, range, and John is on the fairways five days a week, five hundred days a year

Harry "Rock" Davidson is a long-time resident of Dallas, where he says he's fit and fiddling. He still does a bit of lawyering, but "only on demand," and prefers racquetball, sailing, and visits from and to his five sons, who are spread all over the country.

Looking at retirement in January, publisher Bob and Bea Harris will be dividing their time between digs in Aurora, Ohio, and a new home in Venice, Fla. Bob's hobby is gems, especially opals. He hopes to market a manual he's written, "How to Minimize the Trauma of Moving."

Hank and Liz Marshall, who have been in retirement in Norwich, Vt., and golf at nearby Lake Morey, hope to do more of same near Hilton Road, S.C., where they've bought a place. "It's on a golf course," says Hank, "and when the snow flies we'll be ready to tee off."

Also with golf in mind, along with some other amenities, Merle and Emmy Lou Hagen will soon be moving from their winter place in Fort Myers cross-country to a new house in Melbourne, Fla., meanwhile selling their home in Henniker, N.H.

Horace and Jean Blood also divide their time between New Hampshire and Florida. Physician Horace retired two years ago and decided to give Venice, Fla., a try. "It passed 100 percent," Horace said, "ana so now we spend six months there and six months in New Hampshire."

If you didn't catch it in The New York Times, the social event of the season was the surprise party given by their three children for Swampy and Blanch Marsh's 40th wedding anniversary—tent, kegs, band, and all—at their hillside home in Quechee, Vt.

Another death: Frank Ebaugh died of cancer August 7 in Stanford, Calif. Our sympathies to his family.

That's it. Blessings.
