Art Buffington and Rich Rimbach have left us. Let's tighten up our bonds with the rest of '29 and all of Dartmouth. Gene Davis called, and we had our own memorial to his roommate, Hal Hirsch. We called Hal regularly and now hold those moments precious.

My best '29 bonds have come in recent years. It's not too late to give a call or a note. It can start something good. Try it.

Fred and Jane Armstrong still move between Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Marco Island, Fla. Fred sounds great. Their neighbor, Chris Born, is bedridden, but his Jane says he's happy. She has family nearby and gets some freedom.

Our fall mini comes too late to make these notes. Charlie Dudley reports regularly on his usual great job, as Art Nighswander and I will report. Archie Crowley sounds fine, but isn't up to the drive to Hanover.

Our late Dr. Art D'Elia's son Michael '59 wrote a defense of the Review in the Boston Globe recently. Mike is a retired professor and has a Dartmouth daughter. He represents the thinking of many alumni who count on the Review to tell them "what really happens on campus." I wish they did it better.

We're blasted by the constant hype, Of pickets, chants, and feckless type, From those who'd have it understood They only know the Common Good. What moves them more what's true or right, Or "who gets on TV tonight?"
