For a number of '79s this summer was particularly productive. On June 13 Eileen Kain Szypko gave birth to a son, Robert. Jennifer Hughes and DougSmith became the proud parents of Rebecca Kramer Smith on July 5. Two weeks later, Emma Irene Young arrived in Charm City, Md.; she has taken up residence in her own private turret at the Hank Young/AnnBolton castle, a charming Victorian known all over town as the money pit. At nearly the same time, Cheryl Van Wie gave birth to Rosa Philips. Michelle and Tim O'Donnell delivered Shannon Margaret on August 21. And, in early September, PuddieHauge Sword added a third rugrat to the household Elizabeth Payson. As this hits the press, Peggy Epstein Tanner is expecting her second child in December.

Bob Cuny reports that he and his family will be moving to the Philly area this fall. For the past three years, Bob has been conducting research on Florida scrib jay ecology and conservation. In January he will become an assistant professor of biology at Villanova.

Drawn like magnets to the Massachusetts miracle, Eleanor and David Salem have left the land of pleasant living and moved to Boston, where Dave has accepted a position as partner in Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo, and Company, a firm which manages non-profit corporate and pension funds. Dave expects to split his time between the firm's Boston and London offices. E'or, now an expert at birthin' and babies, will be taking a career sabbatical to handle Cara 5, Peter 3, and Virginia 1. After a year or two of squeezing cantelopes at the Grand Union, Dave thinks Eleanor will return to academia and pursue a Ph.D. in Indonesian dance.
