Merry Christmas, tho' it's warm October at this writing. The campus and the press are overreacting to the Review's latest ugliness. Be of good cheer Dartmouth is still the best thing in its class. U.S. News & World Report's 1990 report on the colleges rates Dartmouth number one in approval by its undergraduates.

Gus Wiedenmayer and Bing Carter gave up their jobs as president ana treasurer to protect their health. Charlie Dudley stepped right in to preside, with Bill Magenau taking over as vice president and reunion chairman, and Dud Orr serving as treasurer. Larry Lougee has to give up being vice president, having been in and out of the hospital. Once we've all had time to comment, the executive committee is empowered to vote a new slate officially. Suggestions are welcome.

Now we've lost Al Cooley and FrankHeadley. Obits are being kept shorter. These notes will welcome stories about our dear departed classmates.

Doris Headley tells us how Frank was called the best type of public servant and how he loved the Outing Club. Until he was 75 he climbed in the White Mountains several times a vear.

Al Cooley chose his retirement in the mountains of Vermont, and more '29ers are planning the move to Hanover. Keep plugging for the things we know are right.

Our woes of race and women's rights Will never be at rest Until we face up to our plight And simply choose the best.
