Life has not been the same since "The Loveboat" was cancelled. Not only were Julie, Grover, and The Captain out of cushy jobs (and, except for an occasional appearance on "Hollywood Squares" they still seem to be unemployed), fans were left with nothing but afternoon reruns to watch. Most of us have been able to cope by either taking jobs that allow afternoon TV viewing or videotaping the programs for evening viewing (thus allowing one to rewind especially good scenes). However this is not enough for hardcore Loveboat fans. Laura Gillespie knew she wouldn't be happy unless she found her own Loveboat. Now she works for a company that plans travel programs for the Smithsonian, Metropolitan Museum of Art, etc. She spends most of her time on board their ship as it cruises to places like Russia, Scandinavia, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, and South America. Another devoted Loveboat fan—GinaCannon—was on board as a passenger.

Mark Irish is working hard to produce a blockbuster show that will make us all forget about the Loveboat. He just finished his first feature film, "Deadly Manor," a horror flick. Now he is on a 13-week tour of the South in which he performs in Hamlet andRomeo. What sort of play is this, Mark? A sort of Reader's Digest version of Shakespeare? A two-tragedies-for-the-price-of-one bargain play? He intends to return to NYCin December.

If anybody has any good secrets to leak to the press, give Jonathan Miller a call. Here's his address (I thought Capitol Hill types might find it useful): 4032 50th Avenue, South, Seattle, 98118. He is studying journalism at the University of Washington, where Ken Fisher is studying history. Jonathan will have to compete for news scoops with Jane Steinberg who works for the Seattle Weekly.

Joy Turnheim has already been out of Northwestern Law School for 18 months (she sped past us slowpokes and graduated from Dartmouth in only three years). Now she is involved in corporate law (product liability?) in Chicago.

David Leitao traded in his law books for a few classics texts. Why study the modern theory of justice when it is possible to study the uncorrupted ancient version? Dave studies and teaches classics at the University of Michigan.

Shanta Gona married Brad Ferris '84 sometime this January. The matron of honor was Herman Narcho's wife, Grade Alcabin. Other members of the wedding party included Julie Barker, Amy McCormick (who is working on her master's at Princeton), Helen Shelton (who will be marrying Maurice Holmes '87), and CathyStreeto (who will graduate from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School before marrying Ben Geiss '84 in June). Shanta and Brad will move to Singapore shortly after the wedding.

Jim Cisneros is enrolled in architecture school at Syracuse.

Lynn Chickering is a librarian at a Boston law firm. Karen Voss is working in advertising in NYC; think of her whenever you see Dannon Yogurt ads. Alex Gutterman left the fish business to work for Genstar Container Corp. in San Francisco. He hopes to travel to Seoul within the next year or so to teach English (but don't tell this to his new boss). Anne Desmond is working in NYC for a consulting firm that specializes in organizational behavior issues. Kristenvan Hook and Hans Stander are at the Kennedy School of Government. T.G.Richter and Townsend Zwart are doing some sort of engineering research at Harvard
