As I anxiously await our classmates' theses on "How I Spent My Summer Vacation," I am grateful to the few who have been kind enough to keep this column

Now for the springtime babies. The 4th and 5th of April brought in two new class of' 76 offspring. First, Daniel Joseph Fidler was born to John F. (Jack) Fidler and JoLouise Allen. Jack is vice president of operations at Grove Bank, and he and his family are living in Newton Upper Falls, Mass. Not far away, and just one day later, Frederic William Hill was born to Rick Hill and Susan Dunn Hill, who are living in Wellesley, Mass. with Frederic's two brothers, Jamie and Timothy. (Roommates in the class of ????) A third potential roommate (and also a third son) was born May 26 to GregCronin and his wife, Kerry, who live in Needham, Mass.

I just learned that (Cynthia) Inky Ford, her husband, Turner Paddock '74, and their children Meghann 6 and Spencer 3, are moving from Bainbridge Island, Wash., to Missoula, Mont, in July. Inky has been practicing law in Washington, and has accepted a faculty position at the University of Montana Law School.

Thanks to David Graulich, who has sent news of his burgeoning public relations business. Maxfield Public Relations, which specializes in communications for professional service firms, is entering its fourth year and doing very well. David reports that he has a new side venture doing radio commentaries for the business program "Marketplace," which is broadcast over American Public Radio. He does two-minute humorous spots on the business world, and says that he is having a lot of fun. David is also writing a humor column for the magazine Family Business, which is published in Great Barrington, Mass. He and his wife, Rebecca Braeman ("a real California girl, who has learned to adopt a Dartmouth consciousness"), are living in San Francisco.

On May 14 the Literacy Volunteers of New York City had an evening of readings in the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center. Two of the six authors present at this grand affair were Louise Erdrich and her husband, Michael Dorris. The other readings were done by Russell Baker, Elmore Leonard, Gloria Naylor, and Richard Wilbur. I wish I'd been there! Were any of our classmates lucky enough to attend? "These love medicines is something of an old Chippewa specialty... Before you get one, even, you should go through one hell of a lot of mental condensation ... You could really mess up your life grinding up the wrong little thing." Louise Erdrich, from Love Medicine.
