1910
Hazen Worcester Jones
died at the Elmhurst Retirement Home in Melrose, Mass., on November 4,1990, of congestive heart failure. He came to Dartmouth from Maiden (Mass.) High School, and at Dartmouth was a member of Theta Delta Chi.
He served in WW I with the army and later worked for the Shattuck Co. in Boston, retiring as president in 1970. He was the class president in 1948.
Hazen is survived by two sons, including Kimball '46, and five grandchildren.
1916
Richard Parkhurst
of Winchester, Mass., died on May 10. He came to Dartmouth from Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., and graduated cum laude with a major in English.
Richard served the College as secretary and later president of his class and of the Alumni Association of Boston, and he was an active member of the Dartmouth Athletic Council. He was an Alumni Award recipient in 1962, and in 1980 he was given the Dartmouth Alumni Citation and Bowl for 63 years of consecutive contributions to Dartmouth.
Richard worked for the Boston Port Authority from 192 and remained active with many waterfront protection associations. He served on the Winchester Board of Health for 17 years and on the Town Forest Committee since 1941.
Richard leaves two children, including Stephen '52, and nine grandchildren, including John '79 and Tim Sykes '79.
1919
Howard Simpson Webster
died May 14 in East Dennis, Mass., where he had made his home since 1973. "Teto" grew up in White Plains, N.Y. He took part in all sports and won his varsity letter in basketball.
He spent most of his business career with the Morgan Guarantee Trust in New York City.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley, three daughters, three granddaughters, and two nephews.
1923
Clarence Edward Goss
died in New Haven, Conn., on January 21 of congestive heart failure. He came to Dartmouth from Berlin (N.H.) High School, was a member of Tri-Kap, and he majored in economics and graduated from Tuck in 1924.
He worked for the W.T. Grant retail business for 38 years, retiring in 1959 after helping the business grow to over 1,500 stores. He was a trustee of the Leland Gray Seminary in Townsend, Vt., and of the Larchmont Avenue Church in Larchmont, N.Y.
Clarence was active in New York City Dartmouth Club affairs and was once president of the club. He was class chairman 1944-48, head agent 1970-73, and vice-president from 1975 until recently. A music rehearsal room in the Hopkins Center was donated to the College in Clarence's honor.
He leaves his wife, Prisicilla, a son, Don '53, a daughter, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Joseph Packtor Zone
died November 13,1990, in Stamford, Conn., where he had lived his entire life. He 1923 Valedictorian, and he was active in the DOC and the Canoe Club.
Joseph graduated from Harvard Law in 1926 and practiced in Stamford for over 50 years. He served for some time as a municipal judge, town treasurer, and as the chairman of the Democratic Party of Stamford. He was a longtime president of the Belltown Fire Department. He was an avid sailor and skier.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Charlotte, two children, and six grandchildren.
