Newsletter Editor Bill Montgomery is, as you may know, also president this year of the Alumni Council. Last spring the council created a College Relations Group to attempt to find which issues facing Dartmouth are most crucial to alumni. The CRG queried council members first, but are interested in hearing from all alumni their thinking on issues of importance to the college. Our class should certainly be interested in advising Bill Montgomery of the matters they see as important; input may be addressed to William J. Montgomery '52, CRG Chairman, c/o 304 Blunt Alumni Center, Hanover, NH 03755. The CRG will be meeting from time to time with both President Freedman and the Board of Trustees, and will be reporting back to alumni as warranted.
From the clipping service comes the news that Ev Parker has relocated to London, England, where he will be involved in developing European business through the London office of Bingham, Dana & Gould, a Boston law firm where Ev has been a partner since 1964, and was managing partner from 1984 to 1989. With thanks, no doubt, to ArnMuller, Dartmouth Medical School class of '53 secretary, I now seem to be on the mailing list of Dartmouth Medicine, and will be able to crib news of classmates who frequent the Medical School news columns. From Portland, Ore., both Bill Fisher and Howie Geist reported continuing work in separate practices (Bill in surgical oncology and Howie in orthopedics), health, and happy family life. Howie has four sons and reported four grandsons, while Bill has three grown children and three grandsons.
By the time this appears, the 1991 Alumni Fund will have started, and I hope that all '52s find some way to support it. The Alumni Fund should not be viewed as a vote for or against the president, the administration, the faculty or the football team. My contribution to it, I believe, is an endorsement of the education I received in Hanover, and expression of my wish to aid in the ability of young men and young women of today to also have the opportunity for an unrivaled education in a place of great beauty.
Class news comes from a variety of sources, so far mainly through the college. But the best news is that which each one of you supplies directly to the class secretary or the newsletter editor. Please start the cards and letters coming about promotions, retirements, reminiscences, marriages, reunions, grandchildren; about all those things you would like to know about your friends and classmates, those same things that you can contribute about yourself.
