31 Harriett Wolff's son, William S.'55, wrote that she had passed away last October in a Lebanon, N.H., hospital, but that she went quickly and didn't suffer. Harriett did a lot for the Alumni Fund these last years through her contacts with the '31 ladies. Shep #2 intends to get to his 40th in 1995 and still reads this column.

Cynthia Babbitt's note was most appreciated. While going over documents from the Alumni Records Office I found this in Charlie's comments to Doug Morris for the 31-Year Report: "Wonderful state (Vermont). From May 1 to year-end, that is. Particularly nice place to stay away from in April." Certainly apt this year for us northeasterners. Sam Taylor replies to DAM's March issue news-seeking card, "In the cross-section of existence I am at 403 East Park Street, Taylorville, IL 62568, to which I moved at the age of one, in a moving van, accompanied by my parents."

Doug Wilson set me straight by pointing out that what happened to Bill Minehan (see my notes in the DAM May issue) was probably very similar to what happened to Doug, who was drafted in June 1941, finished basic, was assigned to a unit, and then was released from active duty and put on enlisted reserve in October because he was over 30; then, because all draftees were in for the duration, he was recalled to active duty after Pearl Harbor. More later on Doug.

Also in regard to my DAM May notes, Charlie Schneider wrote that he would write to Ozzie Bliss after returning from the University of Virginia graduation of his youngest grandson, who will return there for a master's and continue as kicking specialist on the football team. More about Charlie later.

En route to my 65th reunion at Exeter, from which I can report Art Spiegel, RalphHunter, and Charlie Hill all being in fine fettle, I had a delightful coffee break with Pegand Ed Brummer, including a tour of Rindge and Jaffrey and of the magnificent war memorial Cathedral Pines, a special interest of Peg's.
